Adele was born in the Bronx and moved to Stamford, Connecticut in her teens. She attended Brandeis University, where she majored in European history and where she met Paul Epstein. They married in 1958, and after three years in California spent a year in Milan, Italy. They spent the next six years in New Orleans, where their son was born. In 1969 she and Paul moved to Philadelphia. For many years she worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare coordinating the five-county subsidized child care programs. She retired in 2001 and she and Paul continued to indulge their love of travel, primarily in Europe, but to Japan and Alaska as well. In addition to Paul, she leaves a son, Roger, his wife Bari, and their daughter Alexa.
An informal memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 PM in the auditorium of the Community Center at Foulkeways, 1120 Meetinghouse Rd, Gwynedd, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charitable institution of your choice.
