Anthony F. Posella died peacefully at Chandler Hall Hospice Center in Newtown, PA on May 8, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
Anthony was born on March 4, 1933 in Newark, NJ. Born the day of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s inauguration, he was given the middle name of Franklin. Anthony was the son of the late Anthony Posella and Gilda Pelosi. He graduated from East Orange High School and attended college at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ graduating with a degree in electrical engineering.
In 1955 he met the love of his life, Rosemarie, in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ. They were married in 1956 and spent 55 wonderful years loving and caring for each other and their growing family. Their life started in Cincinnati, OH, moving to Clifton, NJ after settling in North Plainfield, NJ in 1962 raising five children along the way. After retirement, Anthony and Rosemarie moved to Newtown, PA.
Anthony was predeceased by his beloved wife of 55 years, Rosemarie Muratore Posella, and his cherished siblings, sisters Eleanor Federici and Constance Bonadies, and brother, Frank Posella. He will be greatly missed by his adoring five children, Christine Maines, Anthony Posella, Julie Farese, Maria Behling and Elizabeth Posella. He was also a very proud grandfather to seven grandchildren who loved him dearly: Gregory Maines, Carly Radcliffe, Scott Maines, Leah Posella, Katherine Behling, Elizabeth Behling and Jackson Barnette. He is also survived by his sons-in-law Donald Maines, Jon Farese and David Behling and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Posella.
Anthony served in the Army and spent the majority of his professional career as a salesman and regional manager at Dynapar Corporation. Traveling across the northeast, he made friends with many along the way and would share his life-on-the-road stories with his wife and children. As a young child, he loved to watch boxing with his father and being doted on by his mother, sisters and aunts. An accomplished handicapper of thoroughbred horse racing, he created The Posella Racing Hall of Fame, enjoyed by many family and friends for decades. He played the piano and was a lover of music. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in his flowers and plants sharing their blooms with family and neighbors. Anthony, Rosemarie and their children would vacation in Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ where they spent many summers enjoying the seaside and boardwalk creating memories lasting a lifetime. He had an inquisitive nature and zest for learning, laughing and loving.
Anthony had many words of wisdom he lived his life by, the most important being “life is beautiful” which he said often and instilled in his children and grandchildren. Anthony was many things to many people, a kid at heart, a little-league coach, a fun-loving uncle, a devoted husband and champion for his children and grandchildren. Anthony always had a smile on his face and was the heart and soul of his large family who deeply mourn his passing. His grace and positiveness during difficult times taught his family lessons they will carry forward. Anthony will forever be in our hearts and his spirit will live on in his loving family. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 1st at 10:45am at St. Andrew Church, 81 Swamp Rd, Newtown, PA (www.standrewnewtown.com). Prior to the service, the family will receive friends and family at 9:45am at the church.
