Barbara Ann Storman (née Runnels), formerly of Doylestown, PA, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2026, at the age of 72 at Heritage Pointe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie and Virginia Lee (Minnix) Rodgers; her brothers, Warren Runnels, Gerald Runnels, and Tommie Lee Runnels; and her beloved grandson, DJ Taylor.
Barbara was born on January 13, 1954, in Taylorsville, Mississippi. She was the fourth of eight children, growing up with six brothers and one sister. In 1969, her family planted roots in St. Petersburg, Florida, where many cherished memories were made.
In 1973, she married James R. Schultz, with whom she had two children. Later divorcing and returning to Florida, she met her soulmate, Rodney W. Storman in 1983. Together, they shared 35 years of marriage that was built on devotion, laughter, and partnership.
Barbara — lovingly known as “Barb” — wore many hats throughout her life. She worked alongside Rodney as a citrus grove operator and also served as a restaurant manager. She loved helping Rodney with the mechanics of cars and trucks and knew her way around a garage just as confidently as she did the kitchen. During family gatherings, it was always requested that she bring her famous potato salad, baked beans, and deviled eggs — dishes made with love that became family favorites.
She had a deep love for NASCAR and enjoyed playing cards and games, especially Yahtzee, UNO, and poker. Those simple moments became some of her most treasured traditions. Barb was known for her sharp wit and sarcastic sense of southern charm.
In 2020, Barb and Rodney moved to Tennessee to be closer to their daughter Angela and several grandchildren. In 2023, for health reasons, she moved to Pennsylvania, where she focused on her health and spent precious time strengthening family connections. While living at Heritage Pointe, she formed meaningful friendships and was loved by both the residents and the caring staff. Her family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff for the compassion, kindness, and love shown to Barb.
Barbara attended many family events, including drag racing outings, bingo nights, beach trips, birthdays, and holidays. Her last big trip was to South Carolina with friends and family, where she got the biggest kick out of seeing “Legends” and taking pictures with everyone — a memory that brought her great joy.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rodney W. Storman of Crystal River, Florida; her children Cathy Ann Hemphill (John Thompson) of Doylestown, PA; Curt Lee Schultz (Candace) of Langhorne, PA; Angela Storman of Finger, TN; and Carrie Sanders (Mark) of Batson, TX.
She was a proud grandmother to Ciera (Dave), Toni (Joelle), Michaela, Cameron, Courtney, Charlotte, Chloe, and Dakota (Alicia), and a cherished great-grandmother to Connor James, Dakota Wayne, and Dixie Willow.
She is also survived by her brothers Kenny Charles Runnels (Linda), Raymond Runnels (Marsha), and Clifton Runnels, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Barbara’s life was defined by love, laughter, resilience, and devotion to her family. Her humor, strength, and unmistakable spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
