On Saturday, August 5, 2022, Bessie Jane Harrison, loving mother of four children, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 86 and is now with Jesus. Bessie was born on April 16, 1936, in Venetia, PA to John Kelly and Isabel Benette Science (Bush).
Bessie retired after over 20 years of dedicated service to the PLCB. She was well travelled, had a passion for reading and kept her mind sharp by habitually completing even the most challenging crossword puzzles (in ink). She was much admired by her friends, and one could easily locate her by following the sound of laughter to find her holding court with her quick wit and kind, compassionate spirit. Among her endearing qualities was her collection of frog memorabilia as she held to the adage, “You know what they say. You have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.”
Bessie was preceded in death by her father, John and her mother Isabel, her twin sister Isabel Mary, half-brothers Richard and Eugene Moss, and former husband, Gary Harrison. She is survived by her four children, Kelly (Shari), Laurie (Jeff), Niki (Jeff) and Greg (Kim), along with her six grandchildren, Alex, Jamie, Jeffrey, Maggy, Quinten, and Ellie.
Plans for a future memorial service for Bessie Harrison will be announced and posted. In the meantime when you hear Willie Nelson think of Bessie.
