Carolanne Monaghan, age 77, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on May 4, 2021.
She graduated from Nazareth Academy High School and worked as a beautician even before getting her diploma. Starting in the salons of Center City, she moved on to help her mother establish thefirst beauty school in Northeast Philadelphia where she taught cosmetology before running her own salonsuccessfullyuntil the day she retired.
She loved getting together with her friends to play board games and card games. Her favorite was Scrabble, which she dominated by virtue of the triple word score.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church, sheadored singing in the choir at St. Christopher Church. A point of pride was her selection as part of the schola group. These were members of the choir selected for their vocal talent and exceptional ability during solo performances.
She is survived by her three children Matthew (Melanie), Michael (Viviane), Daniel, 3 grandchildren Deandra, Haylee Rose and Kieran as well as her brother Gerald Shapren (Bette) and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebratory service will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at the Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Light refreshments will be served beginning at 3:00PM, followed by a brief remembrance service at 4:00PM. Afterwards, food and drinks will be provided and we invite you to celebrate with us the good times and memories we have of Carol’s life.
