Carolyn Donnelly

Carolyn Donnelly, (née Schwartz) age 70, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on August 14, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved wife for 49 years of John W. Donnelly, dear mother of Steven (Diane), Susan Paolucci (Michael), loving Mom-Mom of Michael and Joseph Paolucci and Olivia and Bella Donnelly. Devoted sister of Joseph Schwartz (Joan) and Janet Fink (Glenn), sister-in-law of Robert Donnelly, Joanne McGurl (Dave), Dan Donnelly (Lisa), Dennis Donnelly (Lisa), Michael Donnelly (Debbie), Bethanne Meyer (Ervin).  

Daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Schwartz. Also survived by loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Carolyn was a graduate of Little Flower High School, class of 1970. She was a member of Primrose Club of St. Katherine of Siena Parish for many years where she was the official Bingo caller. Carolyn always went out of her way to make sure all, especially new members, felt welcomed.

Carolyn had a passion for fun and games and she always supplied games that everyone could enjoy. She took her sense of fun wherever she went, including all the crazy, holiday headgear she enjoyed wearing (even to Fox Chase Cancer Center). These included a headband with hearts for Valentine's Day, antlers for Christmas, stars for July 4 and Memorial Day, and shamrocks for St Patrick's Day. It was hard not to be happy around her. Even at Fox Chase, she was often referred to as a ray of sunshine. She was also especially known for her gentleness and warmth, making friends of all ages in all places. It was common to find her at the kids' table at every family gathering--laughing, showering kindness and playing games with all the little ones.  You could always be assured that Carolyn would have the candy guess game at every holiday gathering where everyone had to guess the number of candies in the jar.  Whoever got the closest would win the candy and the jar.  The joy that she brought to others will be forever missed.  

Please join the Donnelly family after 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Carolyn’s life. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 pm with time for refreshments and fellowship afterwards, until 6:00 pm. Carolyn's family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support throughout the gathering.

Business casual dress is suggested.
