Charles Carcione, Jr., of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on May 31, 2026, at the age of 84, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He faced his final days with the same quiet strength, determination, and dignity that defined his life. He fought fiercely until the very end, meeting each day with courage, resilience, independence, and the stubborn perseverance that those who loved him knew so well.

Born on April 6, 1942, to the late Charles Carcione, Sr. and Mary Carcione (née Kovalewski), he was the beloved brother of his late sister, Penny, and his brother, Max (Barbara). In 1945, when Charles was just three years old, his father, Charles Carcione, Sr., lost his life while serving his country during World War II. Though that loss came at a young age, it helped shape and develop the qualities that would later be reflected in the care, guidance, and unwavering support he provided to all those he helped raise.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany, where he welcomed his son, Charles Carcione III. His military service further shaped the discipline, resilience, and strong work ethic that would define him throughout his life, and he remained proud of the experiences and values it instilled in him.

After serving his time in the military, he began a long and dedicated career as a tractor-trailer driver for UPS, where he worked for 34 years. He took pride in the life he built through hard work, dedication, and skill. During his years at UPS, he built many lasting friendships that remained an important part of his life long after his retirement.

Charles’s greatest achievements and accomplishments were those of a dedicated and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, and so much more.

At the heart of Charles’s life was his beloved wife, Mary Anna. Together, they built a marriage rooted in love, loyalty, and devotion. They were true soulmates. Through decades of life’s celebrations, challenges, and everyday moments, they remained dedicated partners, best friends, and each other’s greatest source of comfort and support.

Charles was also a constant and dependable presence in the lives of his children, Charles (Carol), Shannon (Carl), Denise, and Alicia. Charles’s love for his children knew no distinctions, and he took immense pride in each of them. To his son, he was a role model. To his girls, he was their protector—the toughest guy with the softest heart. The ways in which he shaped their lives were profound and will continue to live on through them.

One of his greatest joys was the time spent with his grandchildren, Shane (Samantha), William, Ella, and Logan, and his great-grandson, Cameron, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He was a constant source of support and the love he had for them was immeasurable. The memories they shared with him will remain treasured forever.

He was truly one of the good ones—a cool guy with a kind soul, a generous heart, and a quiet strength. A man of few words whose actions spoke volumes. While he never sought attention for himself, he earned the respect, admiration, and love of all who knew him.

Charles is also survived by many extended family members and friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Charles’s life on Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Christ the King Church, 3252 Chesterfield Road, Philadelphia, PA 19114.
