Charlie started helping his father with plumbing when he was 13 years old. After serving in the USMC he returned to plumbing. He worked 20 years at Action Plumbing before starting his own business Charlie’s Drain Cleaning. He really enjoyed interacting with his customers and made many good friends. He worked other jobs over the years but plumbing was his forte.
Charlie was an active member at Martin Luther Chapel in Pennsauken. He was known to witness to anyone with ears about the many blessings and miracles God has put in his life. He loved serving his Lord as an usher on Sunday mornings and helping take care of the church property. He was often seen around town in his pink pickup truck trailing his Deere mower on the way to mow the church lawn.
Charlie’s favorite hobby was turtles, turtles and yes turtles. Once the weather was warm he’d be out in his turtle pen caring for the turtles he had rescued. Some were missing a leg or pieces of their shells but they all thrived under his love and attention. He was so very excited on the late summer day when he was blessed to find a baby turtle that had hatched in the yard.
Charlie had a big heart for helping others. His favorite project was Operation Christmas Child. He loved filling shoeboxes with gifts and God’s Love for children in foreign countries. Donations in Charlie’s memory can be made to Martin Luther Chapel with a notation “Shoebox Ministries”.
Charlie’s Memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday February 21st at Martin Luther Chapel 4100 Terrace Ave Pennsauken, NJ 08109. Church parking is around the corner on Baker Ave and Rt 130. Please wear something pink – his favorite color
