Daniel (Danny) Joseph O'Donnell

Age 64, loving husband of Denise (nee Marchand); devoted father of three sons:  Danny, Jr. (Laura), Michael (Megan), Matthew; proud grandfather of Michael, Jr. and Justin. 

Danny passed away peacefully on the evening of Sunday, July 17, 2022, after a courageous battle with liver cancer.

Danny was born on September 5^th, 1957, to Walter and Helen O’Donnell.  Danny and his siblings grew up in Philadelphia, Pa.  Danny was a roofer by trade and worked for decades to satisfy the needs and expectations of all his customers.  He was a hard worker and approached his work always with a warm and friendly smile.

During Danny’s lifetime, he was a well-respected football and baseball coach in Oxford Circle.  Growing up as a child athlete himself, it was an easy transition to coaching for Danny.  The athletic side of his coaching was only a part of his influence.  It was Danny’s gifts of patience, encouragement, confidence, and love that truly defined the lasting impact he had on many of those young boys.  Danny will always and forever be remembered as playing an instrumental role in their lives.  Several of the boys he coached through the years are now coaches themselves, thanks to their role model “Coach Dan”.

Danny loved his family with all his heart.  He was a loyal and proud husband and father.  His world revolved around his wife, children, and grandchild.  He was also a good (and funny) brother to his many siblings.

Danny will forever be missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and his seven siblings:  Kathy (Joe), Claire (Jim), Patty, Walt (Dina), Joan( the late William), and Timmy (Louise), and the late Mimi (Jeff).  Danny is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews.

Please join the O’Donnell family after 6:00 pm Friday, July 22nd at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Dan’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 7:00 with time for  fellowship immediately afterwards, from around 7:15 until 9:00 pm, where Dan’s wife and family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
