David S. Berg

Age 92, of Audubon, PA

Formerly of Haworth, NJ and later of Charlestown PA, passed away peacefully on July 16th, 2019. David was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Geraldine M. Berg. He is survived by his three sons, David Berg and his wife Eileen of Conshohocken, PA; Christian Berg and his wife Patricia of Dayton, OH; Erich Berg and his wife Lee of Wyndmoor, PA and five grandchildren: Erin Hart, Ryan Berg, Courtney, Ian and Duncan Peterson.

David was born on Oct. 8, 1926 and raised in Leonia, NJ. He was a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy at King’s Point and a veteran of World War Two, serving in the South Pacific.

David served as President of the Board of Education for the Haworth Public School system in the late 1960’s through the early 70’s.

David spent his entire career in engineering and manufacturing operations, initially for Hodes Lange where he later became Plant Manager after the firm was acquired by Corning Glass. David was later made Director of Engineering at West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. until his retirement in 1991.

In addition to being an avid pool player, David was also involved in computers beginning in the early 1980’s and even wrote his own programs for tracking manufacturing efficiencies, some of which were later adopted by West Pharmaceutical Service in their glass division.

David’s generosity of spirit touched many lives. His ready smile and infectious laugh reflected a soul that genuinely cared about all of those whose paths intersected his own.

Funeral services will be private. A memorial service will be held at Shannondell at Valley Forge, David’s final residence, in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Boys Town David’s favorite charity.
