Doris Cecilia Breslin

Doris Cecilia Breslin 69 years old was born on June 30, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA and passed away on September 19, 2025 after a valiant battle with complications caused by lung cancer.

Doris had a tough start in life having lost her mother at a young age but her strength and resilience to succeed pushed her to make a beautiful life. She had ups and downs but always persevered. She struggled and got through better for it on the other side. Her zest for life was contagious. She was so strong and fought until the end. Her humor and laughter could brighten anybody’s day. Nobody was a stranger to Doris. She loved people and took many lost souls under her wing. Helping people was second nature to her but her proudest accomplishment was being a mother.

She loved her 4 sons, 2 grandsons and was looking forward to the birth of her 3rd grandson. She loved to cook for her family and friends. Feeding people was her love language. Even when she was not feeling well she would cook for her sister, brother in-law and niece to thank them for taking her into their home after her diagnosis. She was a great cook and it truly brought her joy to watch others enjoy her meals.

Doris is survived by her beloved sons. John F. Breslin IV (Alisa Duca), Michael Breslin (Deneen Checcia), James Breslin (BJ Vittorelli) and Joseph Breslin (Kim Granton). Her cherished grandsons John F. Breslin V, James Breslin Jr. and Baby Breslin. Her loving sister Cecilia Hogan (Chuck Hogan), and her loving brothers Bill Shiffler (the late Donna Shiffler), and Joseph Shiffler (Debbie Shiffler), as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by her mother Cecilia Shiffler (Fox) and Walt Shiffler, and her brothers Dutch Shiffler (Mary Shiffler) and Jimmy Shiffler.

Please join the Breslin family on Saturday September 27, 2025 from 3:00 - 5:00 pm at the Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Doris' life. Family sharing for Doris will begin at 4:00 pm. Her family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support throughout the evening.
