Eugene R. Burns

Gene Burns
1931-2018

Gene Burns of Buckingham Springs passed peacefully on February 25, at the age of 86. He will always be remembered a loving husband to Anita for over 62 years. He was a devoted father to seven children, Suzanne, Gene, Michael (Terry), Kate (Chris), Kevin (Wendy), Kellyanne (Manuel) and Kerry. Eleven wonderful grandchildren and one beautiful great-grandchild … (another on the way) called him pop pop.

Gene was born and raised in Philadelphia, he graduated from high school. We're just not sure which one! He was the loving brother of Frank Burns, the late Bill Burns, Eileen Plunkett and Paul and Claire Burns. He has nieces and nephews too numerous to mention but all loved dearly.

Gene was always proud of his work as a Tool and Die Maker for
The Budd Company, Philadelphia, PA. It wasn’t always easy work but with 7 mouths to feed he didn’t have much choice. He retired after 41 years.

He and Anita grew up loving sports, playing, coaching and watching all the Philadelphia teams. Whether he was coaching Kate’s basketball team, cheering on Notre Dame football he gave it his all! His greatest love (second only to Anita) was the Eagles. Even from his hospital bed he took great pleasure in his Eagles winning the Super Bowl…(thank god!)

Gene will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend. He was always happiest with his family around him, a cold beer in his hand a smile on his face.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 2 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 5194 Cold Spring Creamery Road, Doylestown, Pa 18902. Visitation will be from 9AM to 11AM mass to follow. In lieu of flowers please make donations to: www.woundedwarriorproject.org
