Frank E. Sanville, Sr.

Frank E. Sanville Sr., 83 years old, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2026. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pop-Pop, brother, and friend whose kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others touched the lives of so many.

Frank was the beloved husband of Barbara F. Sanville (nee Veitz). He is survived by his son, Frank E. Sanville Jr. (Angela), his daughter, Tracy R. VanHouten (Thomas), his four bonus children, Carl A. Gillespie (Marion), Laine M. Sonlin (Michael), Barbara L. Repasy (Alexander), and Chrystin J. Moyer, and his sister, Jacqueline J. Brown (James). He will lovingly be remembered by his 20 grandchildren and his 18 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild joyfully expected in October, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Frank W. and Jessie E. Sanville (nee Gilbert) and his brothers, Henry J. and Gilbert G. Sanville.

After graduating from high school, Frank proudly served four years in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic. His military service was a source of great pride throughout his life, and his deep patriotism was evident in the flags representing each branch of the military that he proudly displayed in his backyard. A track star in high school, Frank carried that same determination and energy into his work, where he was a dedicated employee of Sears and Roebuck for 30 years.

Frank loved gardening, especially his periwinkles and mums, and enjoyed adding water features to his gardens. He could often be found tinkering around the house and fixing just about anything. If he couldn’t figure something out, he turned to YouTube until he found a solution. For many years, he ended his evenings watching Jeopardy!, where he seemed to know nearly every answer—including the Final Jeopardy! answer.

Frank had an exceptionally generous heart. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to friends and family who were in need. For 40 years, he lovingly cared for Barbara, taking care of the shopping, errands, and housework. He was a devoted husband and a loving father who could always be counted on.

But perhaps his greatest joy was being Pop-Pop. He was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and they knew just how special they were to him. His love, humor, giving nature, and steady presence will remain a part of their lives forever.

We are grateful to know that just days before he passed, Frank said that he had lived a good, long life. Those words bring peace to the hearts of those who loved him, knowing that he was grateful for the life he had and the people who shared it with him.

Frank leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him dearly. He will be deeply missed, but we find comfort knowing that he is now resting peacefully in God’s arms.

Family and friends are warmly invited to attend a Service for Frank on Tuesday September 8, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, located at 830 Highland Road in Newtown, PA. We kindly ask that guests attending arrive no later than 11:20 a.m.
