Indu Rajan

Indu Rajan, of Philadelphia, PA, was always the life of the party, the glue that connected people and held them together. It is with incredible sadness that we announce her passing on November 14, 2022 at the age of 74. She was a kind, generous, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, colleague, neighbor, and friend that will be missed by people all over the world. 

Indu is survived by her best friend and husband of 54 years (Sunder “Raj”), two daughters (Vanita and Ramya), a son-in-law (Jude), two grandchildren (Tara and John), and her favorite grand dog (Callie). She also leaves behind a large close family including her beloved brothers, sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, as well as many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and the family she created through deep lasting connections. While she loved and was wonderful in her role as Mom, her all-time, undisputed favorite role in life was as a grandmother. Her grandchildren (including her grand dog) brought her immense joy. 

Much of her work life was dedicated to the business office at the University of Pennsylvania Engineering School as well as to H&R Block, where she diligently and caringly prepared taxes while counseling her clients on many aspects of life (beyond taxes!). When she wasn’t working or with her family, Indu and her husband were traveling the world, often by cruise. She visited all 50 states and more than 50 countries. 

Indu was a deeply caring person who always had a place in her heart for the needy and would readily lend a helping hand, ear, or shoulder to cry on. She also had a fantastic sense of humor and could always make us laugh, even when she didn’t intend to. 

While we believe her life ended too soon, it was a life well-lived and full of love. 

A Celebration of Life for family and friends to fondly remember Indu was held on Saturday, November, 26, 2022 at The State Room in Philadelphia.
