On Tuesday, August 27th, 2024 our beloved James Aviles, age 56, of Philadelphia, passed away unexpectedly in Venice, Florida, his happy place. James was born on a beautiful day, September 14, 1967 to Gail Sprouse of Philadelphia and James Aviles of Philadelphia, originally from the Bronx.
James has been married to ShirleyAnn (nee Greenley), since July 12, 2003 for 21 years and they have been together since 1995. James is the devoted father of 2 sons, Cody James and Brennen Antonio.
He spent 18 plus years of his life as a Philadelphia Police officer who loved his career and enjoyed helping the community, until he was injured on duty. Prior to his law enforcement career, James had a career in construction as a wood framer and operated excavating machinery, and utilized his Class A CDL.
James was a man of many talents, but his greatest accomplishments were his 2 sons and his relationships with his lifelong friends, hunting buddies, and Harley riders.
James is also survived by his brother, Scott, his sister, Tina Exposito-Cruz and many other siblings. He was loved and cherished by his many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He has a unique relationship with each one.
Jim was never without his character smile - he always lit up the room and his eyes danced with joy. He would always crack a joke and have everyone laughing.
His love for the sport of hunting in the beauty of nature of which he loved, was priceless to him. He then became a salty pirate, loving his walks on the beach, collecting shells or just watching the sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico, or tiki bars with the locals. He truly enjoyed making his footprint in life, our Chewbacca forever. Forever in our hearts ♾️
