He was proud of the beach house named, “My Way” in Sea Isle City, New Jersey. That is where over the years the family gathered and created many memories. It is his legacy that this home will continue as the family vacation retreat for many years to come.
Jim was a hard working man with a strong set of morals and ethics. He started his professional career in accounting and finance in 1965. During his senior year of high school he worked as a cooperative educational student with the Philadelphia National Bank (CoreStates Financial). Starting as a bank trainee he ascended through various positions of increasing responsibility, to becoming a Vice President. Jim served as a relationship officer for the securities industry and the Federal Government. After serving 30 years with CoreStates, he joined the U.S. Treasury Department Financial Management Service in November of 1995. At Treasury, he served as an accountant and Sr. Financial Program Specialist, retiring after 23 years of service in December 2018. Jim was a 1975 graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He proudly served his country for 6 years as a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
He devoted his entire life in volunteer service to his community. At the age of 16 he joined his Emergency Medical Service, “Burholme First Aid Corps” and served as an EMT, Life Member of the Board of Directors, and Finance Committee. Jim served as President of the Parkwood Area Planning Council (Civic Association), addressing land use and zoning matters. He also sat as a Board member of the Franklin Mills Advisory Council. His most personal rewarding “seasonal job” was serving as Santa Claus to hundreds of children over the years.
