James ‘Jim’ Rogers, 77, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully in his home on May 3, 2022. Born in Wildwood, NJ to parents James and Mary. Loving father of Tom (Melissa) and Becky (Jonathan). Proud Pop-Pop of Kaiden Maddox, Hayley James, Nathan Robert, Harper Violet, and Ellwood Thomas. Survived by sisters Marie (Harry), who affectionately knew and loved him as Jimmy, and Mary Jane. He was preceded in death by his siblings John, Patricia, and Cecelia (Joseph).
Jim needed few things in life to feel complete; all it took was his family, his work at Dave’s Meats, his Harley, and the open road. He was our truck driving, black coffee and Manhattan drinking, Honest Abe looking, Cape May Shore relaxing, Harley riding, never let you throw away a leftover, country loving but city dwelling, stubborn as an ox Pops, and we wouldn’t have had him any other way.
Please join the family on Friday May 13th, 2022 at Christ the King Church for a gathering of remembrance from 9:30-10:30am. Funeral mass to immediately follow at 10:30am.
Jim loved his country and had a deep respect for the men and women who served it. To show his love he enlisted in the US Navy. He was honorably discharged after basic training due to his stutter. Throughout his life he continued to show his support for our country’s veterans. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s name may be made to Stop Soldier Suicide at https://stopsoldiersuicide.org/donate
