Janet Theresa King (née Guensch), age 84, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026, with her loving family by her side. Born and raised in the Oxford Circle section of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Janet lived a life defined by warmth, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to those she loved.
For 56 years, Janet was a cornerstone of the Oakford, Pennsylvania community before spending her final two years receiving care at Chandler Hall. She was the deeply cherished wife of her childhood sweetheart, Thomas J. King, with whom she shared 63 wonderful years of marriage built on unconditional love, partnership, and togetherness.
Janet’s greatest treasure was her family. She was a mother who gave her all, a joyful grandmother, and an adoring great-grandmother. Her home was always open, and she seized every possible occasion to bring people together. Whether hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, or simply inventing a reason to gather, Janet was happiest when her home was filled with friends, family, good food, and plenty of fun.
We will always remember her as the fun-loving, happy, smiling party girl. Janet loved playing games of all kinds—from board games and cards to spirited rounds of giant JENGA with her grandkids. Her true "happy place" was Promised Land State Park, where she camped with her immediate and extended family for over 40 years, creating decades of unforgettable memories around the fire and under the trees. She was a kind soul whose gentle heart and infectious smile endeared her to everyone she met.
Janet is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas J. King; her loving children, Donna Krotowski (Jim Hennigan), Debbie Yarosh (Scott), and Dan King (Lorraine); her daughter-in-law, Dana King; Carol Kelly (Hugh), whom Janet loved and embraced as her own daughter; her nine cherished grandchildren, David, Danielle, Molly, Sam, Sarah, Tim, Sam, Andrew, and Taylor; and her three adoring great-grandchildren, Joey, Tommy, and Eleanor. She was reunited in death with her beloved son, Tom King, and her beloved siblings, Betty, Ann, and Chaz.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Janet’s life on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Assumption B.V.M. Catholic Church, 1900 Meadowbrook Road, Feasterville, PA. A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed immediately by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at a later date.
In honor of Janet’s vibrant, fun-loving spirit, family and friends are encouraged to wear bright colors to her service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Janet’s honor may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) to support care, support, and research of dementia.
