Jean M. Kolb, a devoted mother, beloved grandmother and great-grandmother, cherished sister, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at home on May 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old.
Born in Philadelphia on October 30, 1938, Jean was the daughter of Leopold and Mae Berzinski. She grew up with her four siblings: brothers Charles and Robert, who preceded her in death, and her dear sisters Geraldine Berzinski and Betsy Hanssens.
Jean married Edward H. Kolb, with whom she shared a devoted marriage until his passing in 1987. Together, they built a life centered on family, love, and unwavering support. Jean was a proud and loving mother to five children: Edward S. Kolb and his partner Bre Engelhard; Dennis M. Kolb and his wife Susan E. Kolb; the late Richard Kolb; Linda Griffin (née Kolb) and her husband Randy Griffin; and Colleen Kolb-Cimerman and her husband Richard L. Cimerman.
To her 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, Jean was affectionately known as "Mommom." Her home was always open, and her heart even more so - filled with laughter, warm meals, and the joy of being surrounded by her growing family.
Jean's life was rich with activity and connection. She loved spending time at her vacation home in the Bayberry Cove community in Marmora, New Jersey, where she enjoyed countless summers with family and friends. She had a passion for playing cards, going out with friends, and meeting new people - traits that reflected her energetic and social spirit. Jean was always on the move, the heartbeat of every gathering, and her warm, outgoing nature endeared her to everyone she met.
Even in her final days, Jean's courage and grace were evident. She battled lung cancer with strength and dignity, never allowing it to dim her spirit. Her final moments were spent at home, embraced by the family she so deeply loved.
Jean Kolb's legacy is one of warmth, resilience, and a life fully lived. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her boundless love for her family, and her gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued.
Jean's life will be celebrated privately by her family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jean's memory to a cancer research organization or a charity of your choice.
