Jerome David Duffy, 69, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, died Friday, July 12, 2024. Big Jay, as he was affectionately known, was surrounded by his family as he succumbed to his long fight with cancer.
Jay is survived by his children, Jenna Jackson, Sharrin Duffy, Janelle Duffy, and Jeremy Duffy. His grandchildren, the lights of his life, Angeleah Rivera, Abigail McCreery, Isaac Marcado Jr., and Hazel Jackson. He was excitedly expecting his first great grandchild who is on the way. He is also survived by his loving sister, Barbara McCarney, along with many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Jay will be remembered for his selflessness and generosity. He was known for his readiness to assist others. His life revolved around supporting his family and friends, always ready to meet their needs without seeking help himself. Whether it was fixing vehicles, tackling home improvement projects, or offering his tools and expertise, Jay was always ready with a helping hand. His ability to accomplish nearly anything he set his mind to underscored his resourcefulness and determination.
Jay loved all Philadelphia sports teams, his many pets through the years, but above all his family. He will be greatly missed by many.
Please join the Duffy family on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136, for a gathering of remembrance in honoring Big Jay's life. A service for him will begin at 7:00 pm. His family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support throughout the evening.
