Joan Marie Slack (nee Neff)
Beloved wife of William D. Slack for almost 63 years.
"Mom" to Donna Slack, Dawn Denkin (Matt), and Billy-Jo Jordan (Chris).
"Mommom" to Kirsten Slack, Kyle Nubbemeyer, Sam and Bodey Denkin, and Thomas, Jacob, Landon, Adyson and Riley Jordan.
Doting "Great-Grandmom" and partner-in-crime with Miss Vaeda Rose.
Joan has joyfully reunited in heaven with her parents Charles F. Neff and Anna Mae Neff (nee Young), her brother Joseph Neff and his wife Lillian; William G. Slack, and Mary A. Slack (nee McGrath), brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Nancy (Ann) Slack, Thomas Jordan, and many other beloved family members and friends, and cherished pets.
Joan had many jobs over the years, but her primary role was homemaker. She was her children's biggest cheerleader whether yelling from the bleachers during Donna's softball games, or for Dawn and Billy-Jo on the sidelines of track and cross country meets. She enjoyed staying busy and pursued many hobbies including painting and ceramics, designing coloring book masterpieces, conquering difficult jigsaw puzzles, enjoying Lifetime Movie Network and American Ninja Warrior, chatting with her cherished quaker parrot, Prince, and relaxing with her "hubby" Bill under their tiki and the shade of palm trees on their dream retirement property in Hudson Florida where they resided happily for more than 24 years.
Dubbed the “fun” aunt by her nieces and nephews, Joan was small but mighty; the perfect combination of sweet and spicy. Sometimes hiding her soft side behind a tough exterior, Joan was a fierce protector who loved her friends and family deeply.
After putting up a valiant fight against COPD for more than 20 years, Joan transitioned peacefully, hand-in-hand with her "Sweetheart", with family surrounding her bedside.
