John G. Heron, Jr.

John was born and raised in Philadelphia. In his early years he was forced to leave high school to support himself and his father after his mother passed away. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served two tours in Vietnam. After his return home to Philadelphia he married and had four children. He worked in the  transportation industry until he retired. He divorced and eventually married his current wife, Mary Bachich-Heron, of 22 years.

John was a hard working, fun loving man who was always willing to lend you a helping hand. He loved his wife and family dearly and enjoyed watching his nine grandchildren grow through the years. John had a few other loves in his life - drinking beer, watching the Eagles and sitting out with the neighbors or getting together with family and friends. And boy could he tell a story. You always had a good laugh and a great time when you were with John. He was loved and will be missed. He was one of a kind and no one will ever be able to take his place."

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Shawn (Laura) Heron, Kerry (Edward) Owens, Danielle (John) Heron and is Loving Poppy to Alyssa, Briana, Madison, Kayla, Brandon, Emily, Aidan, Eddie and Keegan-John.

He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Heron.

Please join the Heron family after 6:00 pm Friday, September 9th at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating John’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 7:00 pm with time for refreshments and fellowship immediately afterwards, from around 7:30 until 9:00 pm, where John’s wife and family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
