John (Jack) Hovey

John (Jack) Hovey, lovingly known to his family and friends as "Pop," age 83, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2026, surrounded by his family.

He was born to Joseph and Jane on June 15, 1943, in Philadelphia.

His life was filled with music, adventure, service, and so much love. From playing jazz, serving in the Army and as a Philadelphia police officer, to traveling all 48 states and discovering new adventures on his motorcycle, he lived a life full of stories and unforgettable memories.

Music was always close to his heart, as were the friendships and experiences he gathered along the way.

Above all, his greatest joy in life was his family, and his love for them knew no bounds. They were his greatest blessing, and nothing made him happier than having them by his side and knowing they were loved.

If you knew his family, chances are you knew Pop, whether personally or through the many stories shared by his loved ones, especially the funny ones told by his grandchildren. Those stories, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable memories, helped make Pop a part of so many lives.

He lost the love of his life, Michele (Pinkey) in 2010, and his longing to be reunited with her never faded.

His life was anything but ordinary, and he will never be forgotten.

He was loved, he will be deeply missed, and his stories will live on through us all.

He is survived by his beloved daughters, Michele and Teresa; his beloved son, Edward; his loving sons-in-law, David and Terrence; he was the proud "Pop" to his cherished thirteen grandchildren, Christopher, David, Ryan, Nicholas, Alexis, Dillon, Hallie, Michael, Michele(Shelly), Grace, Chloe, Jacob and Angelina; his precious great-grandchild, Silas; his loving brother, Joe as well as cousins, nieces and nephews.
