John Joseph Muncie (65) passed away at his home in Northeast Philadelphia around 1:15am on Tuesday, March 25, 2025. He had been born and raised in Philadelphia, along with his younger brother Richard (deceased March 2014).
John had always been a fiercely hard worker. He worked as an auto mechanic for many years, before beginning his career as a printing press operator at Tavo Packaging. Also earning a CDL, he drove a tractor-trailer for a few years as well as a tow truck on occasion. In his younger years, he enjoyed tinkering with old cars, riding his motorcycle, and unwinding with the combination of a good cigar and a drink with friends. His retirement was typically enjoyed watching old black-and-white westerns, spending time with his wife and playing with their grandchildren. He had always been a die-hard Eagles fan, very seldom missing a game.
Marcus Cicero wrote “The life of the dead is set in the memory of the living”. Although his physical form may have departed, John will live on in the hearts, minds, and souls of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Nancy Muncie (née Parker); his two daughters Kimberly (Frank) Leto and Nicole (Michael) Offenberger; and his 3 grandchildren Emily, Michael, & Mason.
Despite not having a funeral or memorial service, John’s family implores you to commemorate him in your own ways. After all, “death ends a life, not a relationship”. May we all hold dear to our hearts the man we will forever cherish.
