John W. Pyfer

John W. Pyfer of Philadelphia, PA passed away on March 31, 2023 surrounded by his family after a long and tough battle with cancer.  

He was born in Philadelphia, PA to Joe and Fran Pyfer on October 9, 1952.  John graduated from Lincoln Tech and began his career as a mechanic.  He later began working for the City of Philadelphia Police Department as the Fleet Manager and retired in 2016 after 17 years.

John loved time with his family and friends and having ice cold beer at the Pyfer Pub.  He enjoyed fishing, being down the shore, working on his boat (when he had one) and working on cars.  If anything was ever needed, John would be there to help in any way he could.

John is survived by his wife Kathleen Pyfer; sisters Elizabeth (Nick) Lanza, Frances (Bob) Hulick, Rosemary (John) Revell; his brother Joseph (Georgia) Pyfer; his daughters Heather Bednarik, Amber (Chris) Vessels, Kimberly (William) Bednarik, Kathleen (Justin) Daniels; and his grandchildren Kayla, Joey, Arianna, Brianna, Jazmyn, Michael, Leigha, Alexis, Jocelyn, Avery, Maddy, Riley, Alaina, Cameron and Bella; and his great-grandchildren Anthony and Tyson.

Please join the Pyfer family after 4:00 pm Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating John’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 5:00 with time for refreshments and fellowship immediately afterwards, from around 5:30 until 7:00 pm, where John’s wife and family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
