John F. Rowland

Age: 77 Of Golden Meadows, Louisiana

On Wednesday, November 28th surrounded by his loving family. Born in Shenandoah, PA to Robert and Catherine (nee Brennan). Moved to Philadelphia in 1945. John graduated from Cardinal Dougherty high school then attended Spring Garden Automotive before volunteering for service in the US Army at Fort Richardson, Alaska. Later in life he became sober and completed a degree in counseling. John was an avid fisherman and reader who loved rare plants.

He was a devoted father to Kathy, Margaret (Andrew), Linda (Mike) and his canine companion Miss T. Cherished fishing pop-pop to John Michael Rowland, Coral and Kyle Shaffer, and Luke Rowland. Dear brother to Carole Rowland, Cathy (Bob) Link , Mary Walsh, Kevin (Malin) and Patrick (Cecilia) Rowland. Predeceased by his brother Bob and brother-in-law Tom.

Please join the Rowland family after 5:30 pm Wednesday, December 5th at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating John’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 7:00 with time for fellowship immediately afterwards, from around 7:30 until 8:30 pm, where John’s family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Alcoholics Anonymous .
