Joseph T. Adams, Sr.

Joe was born in Germantown Hospital on October 18, 1937 and lived in the East Falls section of the city.  Joe went to Roman Catholic High School and graduated in 1955.  He joined the US Army Reserves from 1955 to 1963.

Joe and Dolores met at a St. Joe's dance in February of 1956.  They were engaged in November of 1957 and married September 13, 1958.  Joe became a police officer in 1961.  He worked at the 25th District, 22nd District and the Crime Lab until 1980.

Joe was president of the St. Bernard's Bowling League, president of the Winchester Homeowner's Association.  He was the Philadelphia School Board Security Officer from 1972 to 2000.  He worked at Frankford High School, then Lincoln High School and was president of the School Board Security Officer Union.

Joe bought a summer home at the Villas in 1971 to 1990 where he fished and enjoyed life.  Then from 1990 to 2001, he bought a home in the Poconos where he fished and skied.

Joe was also a sports fan.  He loved his Eagles and all Philly sports.  He enjoyed going to his grandson, Joey and Michael's, hockey games and Danny's football games at Bloomsburg University.

Joe was a pet lover.  He had many dogs and cats.  He also loved to travel and went on 22 cruises.

Joseph was the beloved husband of Dolores I (née Paul); loving father of  Susan Adams Black (Michael), Michael Adams (Paula), and the late Joseph T Adams Jr (Rose); devoted grandfather of Rosey, Ashley, Michael, Deanna, Carly, Danny, and the late Joseph Adams,III; and great-grandfather of Joseph Thomas Adams IV, Brayden, Charlotte, Harper, Ava, Hailey, and Wyatt. He is also survived by his sister Margaret McDonnell (Stephen), as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Please join the Adams family after 6:00 pm Wednesday, July 12th at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Joseph’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 7:00 pm with time for more refreshments and fellowship afterwards, until 9:00 pm. Joe’s family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support throughout the gathering.
