Joseph W. Wood, Jr.

Joseph W. Wood, Jr, Age 83, died early morning of April 23rd, 2023, at Nazareth Hospital in Vitas Inpatient Hospice Unit.

Joseph W. Wood, Jr was born July 13th, 1939, in Philadelphia to Mabel and Joseph W. Wood, Sr.

Joseph was a brave and honorable man who gave many years to fighting and protecting his country as a Marine and an Army Soldier until he deemed fit to be home with his beautiful, now deceased, wife Quinda Wood and his first son Joseph Wood.

Joseph then gave the rest of his working years to the Budd Company as a Stationary Engineer. Joseph spent a lot of his retired time doing the things he loved:  fishing on a wonderful day, soaking up the warm sun, reading novels, watching Philadelphia sports teams, teaching his sons Joseph Wood, and later adopted son David Joseph Vocht, how to work on motor vehicles, and enjoying the time spent with his loving and crazy family.

Joseph W. Wood, Jr was preceded in death by his mother Mable Wood, father Joseph W. Wood, Sr, wife Quinda Wood, sister Jean Stem (Joseph). Joseph W. Wood, Jr is survived by his brother William Wood (Agnes), sons Joseph Wood (Carol) and David Vocht (Britany); Grandchildren Kellie Wood, Shannon Gunn (Justin), David Vocht, Jr and Harper Vocht; Great-grandchildren Kaydance Gunn, Madilee Gunn, and Justin Gunn; as well as many nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the VA for helping to honor a deserving veteran.

Please join the Wood family after 12:00 pm Sunday, April 30th  at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Joe’s life. The memorial tribute service will begin promptly at 1:00 with time for fellowship immediately afterwards, from around 1:15 until 2:00 pm, where Joseph’s family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
