Joseph A. Yost, Sr.

Joseph A. Yost Sr, aged 82, of Bridesburg, Philadelphia, passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2026.

Born on August 15, 1943, in Philadelphia, Joe spent his childhood in North Philadelphia. He later lived with his wife and family in Kensington, where they resided until the late 1980s, before settling in Bridesburg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette R. Yost (née Dilliplane), who passed away on May 2, 2025.

Joe is survived by his two children: his daughter, Barbara Layton (husband Stacy), and his son, Joseph Yost Jr. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jacob and Rebecca (children of Barbara and Stacy Layton); and Joseph Yost III, Adelaide, and Rainer (children of Joseph Yost Jr.).

Joe was a dedicated employee of McLean’s Packaging in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia for more than 40 years. After retirement, he continued working part-time at Spike’s Trophy until his late 70s. Known as a hardworking and reliable individual, he took great pleasure in crabbing at the Jersey Shore, playing games, going to the casino with his wife, going out to dinner, and spending time with his grandchildren, often sharing laughter with family and friends.

His life was marked by commitment to his family and his work. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him. 

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:00am, St. John Cantius Church, 4415 Almond Street, Philadelphia, PA 19137.
