Karen Lynch ( Nee Buchanan), age 67, of Garnet Valley, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with multiple sclerosis.
Karen devoted her life to caring for others. As a labor and delivery nurse, she spent 25 years at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, Pennsylvania, where she guided mothers through some of life’s most profound moments and welcomed countless newborns into the world. Her calm presence, gentle spirit, and deep compassion brought comfort and reassurance to families at the very beginning of their journeys. To those she cared for, Karen was more than a nurse—she was a source of strength, kindness, and quiet grace. Sadly, because of her MS diagnosis she had to stop practicing what she loved.
Above all, Karen’s greatest love was being a mother to her two sons, Phillip and Patrick. Her love for them was boundless, fierce, and deeply rooted in every part of her life. She was their constant—steadfast in her support, gentle in her guidance, and unwavering in her belief in them. She found joy in the everyday moments they shared and carried their happiness and their struggles as if they were her own. Even after the heartbreaking loss of Patrick, her love for both of her sons never wavered; it remained as strong and present as ever, shaping who she was each and every day. Being their mother was her greatest pride and her most treasured role.
She is survived by her loving son, Phillip; her sister, Susan McCrossan (John McCrossan); her brother, Jim; her many cousins and many beloved nieces and nephews from both the Buchanan and Lynch families, all of whom will carry her memory in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Patrick; her brother, Shawn (Pat Buchanan); and her parents, Jack, and Nan, who surely welcomed her with open arms.
Karen will be remembered for her unwavering love, her selflessness, and the gentle way she moved through the world. Even in the face of illness, she showed remarkable strength and resilience, never losing her warmth or her capacity to care for others. Her life was a gift to so many, and her legacy lives on in the families she touched, the lives she helped begin, and the love she gave so freely.
In keeping with Karen’s wishes, services will be private. The family invites you to remember Karen is your own special way.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made In Karen’s name to: National Multiple Sclerosis Society P.O. Box 91891 Washington, D.C. 20090-1891
