We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved family member, Kathy Shea.
Kathy fought a tremendous battle after suffering a major life threatening brain aneurysm on August 17th. It was nothing shy of a miracle that Kathy survived. Kathy then began an uphill battle of fighting to survive and recover for 4 and 1/2 months until she took her last breath. Kathy was surrounded by her family and friends when she was called home.
Kathy is pre deceased by; Mother Dorothy Shea (Epler), Father Charles E. Shea, Sister Naomi Shea, Sister Ruth Winning (Shea), Brother John Shea, Brother Michael Shea, Brother Tom Shea, Sister Barbara Kotwicki (Shea)
Kathy is survived by; Sister Margaret Sabato (Shea), Sister Carol Beecher (Shea), Brother Charles Shea and many Nieces, Nephews, Great Nieces and Nephews, Great Great Nieces and Nephews as well as beloved friends, neighbors of the Burg and her co-workers.
Kathy was a Philadelphia native, born and raised. Kathy held many hats in her work career but spent the last 20 years as a valued and respected employee of the VA Medical Center. Kathy was a sports fanatic and spent most her free time cheering on our Phillies teams but her all time favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Braves.
Kathy found her faith mid way through her life and discovered profound peace and comfort with readings and sermons from the Christian faith.
Kathy took care of her family, friends and everyone who needed it without hesitation or question.
Kathy will be missed tremendously by all.
Please join the Shea family after 3:00pm on Saturday January 21 2023 at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Kathy’s life. A service for Kathy will begin at 4:00pm with time for refreshments and fellowship immediately afterwards, until 6:00pm where Kathy's family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
