Larry A. “Smokey” Noble passed away on June 8, 2022 at home while battling pancreatic cancer at the age of 74 years old.
Larry was born in Nassau County, NY on July 25, 1947 to the late Raymond and Dorothy Noble. He was the oldest brother to Wendell, Reginald, Ricky (deceased), Cheryl (deceased), and Darrell.
Smokey is survived by his partner and best friend of many years Karen Sullivan, his children Lyndell Smith (Odie), Shelitha Noble, and Larry A. Noble Jr, and 8 grandchildren: Nicholas, Lydia, Kalyn, Donovan, Eva, Erica, Evan, Bryson. Smokey was like family to Karen’s children Kathryn (Ryan) and Liam (Erica), and “Smokey Pop” to their children: Luke, Bella, Shea, Ruari, Tessa and Fiona.
Growing up in Brooklyn, NY Larry started singing with his brothers at a very early age and he became so “hot” on the guitar that it earned him the nickname “Smokey”; often playing the guitar with his teeth during performances.
Smokey went on to become a professional entertainer and singer eventually performing around the world with groups including the Platters, The Joneses, and The Drifters. Smokey’s unique baritone bass voice drove the crowds wild!
Smokey was very charming, fun loving, and a jokester. Aside from his love of all things music, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, tending to his backyard garden with Karen, taking care of his aquarium, fishing, and playing dominoes and chess. He especially liked to challenge his brother Ricky and his son Lyndell.
Family and Friends are invited to a celebration of Life on June 15, 2022 from 6:00-9:00 PM at the Deleware Valley Cremation Center located at 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Viewing: 6:00-8:00 PM. Memorial Service: 8:00-8:30 PM.
