Lee S. Berkley

Lee S. Berkley, 92, of Ann's Choice Rose Gardens in Warminster, PA, passed away comfortably on January 26, 2024.

Born in Baltimore, MD, she was a daughter of Jeannette and Harry B. Schwartz. She was joyfully married to the late Cerf Berkley for 60 years and is survived by three daughters: Jeannette S. Berkley (John Sullivan) of Philadelphia; Amy Berkley Mantell (David Mantell) of Rochester, NY; and Julia Berkley (Jeffrey Cramer) of Maynard, MA. She boasted six grandchildren: Ezra Nepon, Ari Nepon, Sarah Mantell, Eli Mantell, Kazia Berkley-Cramer; and Zoë Stewart, as well as three wonderful grandchild spouses and four great-grandchildren.

From 1972-1983 Lee served as Special Events Coordinator for the now defunct Hess's Department Stores. Hers was the voice heard over the sound system announcing special events and sales. From 1984 to retirement in 1997, Lee was public relations director of Good Shepherd in Allentown PA, writing and producing Sweet Charity magazine and other publications. Lee served as president of the Lehigh Valley Chapter of Business Communicators and was actively involved in Torch Club of the Lehigh Valley and Quota Int'l of Allentown. She also served on the boards of Congregation Keneseth Israel, Jewish Family Service of the Lehigh Valley, and the Salvation Army Advisory Board. She was an active member of the Institute for Jewish-Christian Understanding at Muhlenberg College. Before moving to PA from Morristown, NJ, she was National Publicity Chair and Education Chair for Women's American ORT. She was a graduate of Smith College, Northampton, MA, where she met her husband on a very fortuitous blind date.

If you feel so moved, donations in Lee’s memory would be welcome to Ann’s Choice Benevolent Fund and or to the charity of your choice.
