Lillian Amaro

We remember Lillian Amaro, a radiant soul who brought light and love to everyone she met. Known affectionately as Lily, Lil, and LaLa, she was a cherished mother, devoted grandmother, beloved sister, and faithful friend.

Lillian's life was a testament to her deep devotion to the Lord and her daughters. Her journey of faith began at a Vacation Bible School, where, with her daughters' gentle insistence, she accepted the Lord as her personal Savior. This pivotal moment led her to become a dedicated member of the Ebenezer Christian Missionary Alliance, where she found purpose and joy in serving the Lord.

Her unwavering faith laid the foundation for instilling independence, strength, resilience, and, most importantly, a profound connection with God in her daughters.

Lillian's love for her family was matched only by her passion for serving others. Early in life, she took a secretarial course that led to a position with the federal government. Yet, feeling unfulfilled by the work, she pursued a more meaningful role with Nueva Esperanza Hispanic Clergy. This career shift brought her immense joy, allowing her to touch lives and make lasting connections within the community. Her commitment to service extended beyond this role, as she later led after-school programs, empowered single mothers, and organized community initiatives to strengthen the bonds between families and education.

Lillian’s love for her daughters was boundless, and she involved them in her community work, teaching them the values of service, dedication, and leadership. Together, they decorated events, babysat, tutored, filed paperwork, and even led salsa dance classes and organized trips for her programs.

Lillian’s heart grew exponentially when she became a grandmother, she traveled near and far to ensure she was the first person they saw when they entered the world. As the years progressed, she made sure to always have her grandchildren all together and by her side. Her loved for them changed with the times, from trips to Chuck E Cheese, the parks by the river, to the movies to watch Marvel, annual Christmas shopping trip & show of lights, parade and sporting events, Dave & Busters, and many more. She supported them in every way from school performance to attending soccer, football, and baseball games, watch dance recitals and track meets. She was always so very proud of her grandchildren many people would know their names before they even got a chance to meet them in person.

Lillian found joy in life’s simple pleasures, like sitting by the water at Kelly Drive, cheering on her grandchildren at sports events, traveling to enjoy smooth jazz, and in her later years, visiting casinos, which she fondly called her playground.

A fighter to the very end, Lillian faced life’s challenges with unwavering faith and determination. Despite health struggles, she continued to embrace life, celebrating her children’s and grandchildren’s successes, attending high school and college graduations, and finding laughter and joy in every moment.

As we say goodbye to Lillian, we find solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her legacy of love, laughter, and service will continue to inspire us all.

Lillian was preceded in death by her grandmother Laura and grandfather Callito, her mother Dominga, her sister Migdalia, her aunts Perfecta, Juanita, Julia, Margaret and Milagros and her God daughter Geisel and Special Sister Linda DeJesus. Lillian is survived by her daughters, Marisol (husband James), Daniela and Liani. Her grandchildren Lamont, Javon, Siani and Donovan, her great grands Sariyah and Ausett. Her Brother Edwin (Wife Linda), her sisters Delia, Evette and Minera (Husband Papito) other Sibling Fernando and Dad Guito . Her aunts Doris and Clara (husband Luis).
