Lois C. Dartt

Lois Carolyn Dartt, 91, passed peacefully at home on June 28th, 2024 one day shy of her 92nd birthday.

Lois was born on June 29, 1932 in Malden, MA to Edward and Ragnhild Beatteay. She was an adored only child and had many friends in her neighborhood. After Lois graduated at the top of her class from Malden High School, she enrolled in Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston.

Lois married her high school sweetheart, Leonard Dartt and through her husband inherited a large extended family. During their marriage they had three children: Marcia, Stephen and Lisa. Lois and Leonard moved many times for his career but finally settled in Deerfield IL. Lois worked at Underwriters Laboratory in Northbrook and was able to arrange her schedule to be there when her children got home from school. Once her children were grown Lois moved back east to be closer to her parents and worked as an Office Manager at the St. Botolph Club in Boston.

After retiring Lois moved to sunny and warm Fort Myers, FL. She had a beautiful condominium and enjoyed making friends in her community and spending time with them as well as her sassy little Devon Rex cat, Cleopatra. She lived about 20 years in Florida where she had the freedom and ideal weather to do as she wished.

Lois was a skilled and competitive bridge player for all of her adult life. She enjoyed the arts, attending Opera, Ballet and Plays. She was also a voracious reader and always kept up on what was happening in the world. Through all her moves she never lost her Boston accent which made using tv voice commands and automatic phone menus an interesting adventure. 

Lois was predeceased by her parents Edward and Ragnhild, her son Stephen and her ex husband Leonard. 

She is survived by her daughters Lisa (Tom Lunt), Marcia Taraschi (Fred) and grandchildren Steven Campbell, Daniel Taraschi (James Herring), Ellen Taraschi (Samuel Morse) and Peter Taraschi.
