Lucio Enio Monaco

Lucio Enio Monaco, born on December 13th, 1925, passed away peacefully on May 16th, 2023 at the age of 97. His loving wife, Mary Monaco, passed away on February 15th, 2020. Lucio is survived by his devoted children, Angela Dellavella (Robert), Linda Frisco (Tom), and Mark Monaco. He loved his five grandchildren, Angie Slevenski (Keith), Brittani Monaco, Chelsea Dellavella (Giovanni), Mark Monaco, Jr., Christian Dellavella, and Avery Frisco, and his four great-grandchildren, Keith Jr, Emiley, Aubree, and Julian, who lovingly called him Nonni. He was the oldest of ten children and is survived by his brother Paolo, and two sisters, Christina and Anna.

Born in Baia Latina, Italy “Louie” as he was affectionately called by many, moved to Philadelphia in 1957. His marriage to Mary was prearranged, and they were happily married for 61 years. He was employed as a Union Sheet Metal worker at Penn Ventilator Company for 30 years. He was an avid swimmer throughout his life and enjoyed bowling and playing billiards. He remained active through his later years, recalled by neighbors who greeted him as he walked around his neighborhood daily. He decided to stop driving on his own at age 88, even though he had 20/30 vision. His family will remember him for his determination and fortitude.  His stories of growing up on a farm, which he documented in lengthy videotaped interviews, and his insatiable appetite during holiday meals will continue to pass through generations. He will be missed by many. Rest in peace Dad, Pops, Nonni and Louie.  XOXO

Relatives and friends are invited Monday, May 22nd 9:00 am to his visitation followed by his 10:00 am Funeral Mass at St. Dominic Catholic Church 8504 Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19136. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Louie's memory to The American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. Donate Today | The American Cancer Society

Remember he and Mary well, super nice and sweet people and we laughed often about being non relatives even though my name was Terry Monaco.. I came to know them when they attended the Retirees at Pennypack Woods Coop....during my time as Manager there...RIP Lou and Mary.
