Margaret Jean Francis

Margaret (Peg) Jean Francis died at 2pm on Saturday, April 30, 2022. Margaret is predeceased by her parents, Charles and Virginia Stossmeister and survived by her brother, Dan Stossmeister and his wife Sandy; sister, Cheryl Kita and her husband Paul; her husband, Dale C. Francis Jr. and their 4 children; son Paul Francis and his wife Debbie; daughter Julia Rodgers and her husband Jared; daughter, Jeannette Francis; son, Clifford Francis and his wife Shelley; their 3 grandchildren; Chante Bennett, Sasha Bennett, Antonio Bennett; a great granddaughter Lily Bennett; and a plethora of nieces and nephews..

Peg was born on September 19, 1944, in Northeast (city of Erie) Pennsylvania. At a young age, she moved with her parents to Washington Street in Erie Pennsylvania where she lived until getting married.  After graduation, she worked at American Sterilizer as a researcher with a goal of finding a cure for cancer. This led her to obtaining a technical degree in biology.

After meeting through their fathers, Peg and Dale married on December 18, 1965 in her hometown at Elmwood Presbyterian Church. Peg enjoyed gardening, finding a good recipe, taking drives around Erie Peninsula and felt it a privilege to care for her family.

On September 23, 1975, Peg was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.   Despite their spiritual differences, when Dale was ordained as a Presbyterian Minister in September 1984, their love for each other and their love of God and respect for God’s marriage arrangement saw them through the various trials that life brought on.  Their children learned from their example that above all things, do things God’s way and he will make your path successful.   She always referred to Dale, her husband of 56 years, as her best friend.

For the last year and a half, Peg resided at Sunrise of Bluebell Pennsylvania where she was well cared for and known and loved by the staff and residents for her deep faith in God and kind, loving manner. Peg carried her love of Jehovah with her till the day of her death being found with her bible beside her in bed.
