Margaret (Peggy) McAlpine

Margaret (Peggy) McAlpine, age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Rose Garden at Ann’s Choice where she was a resident since 2007.

Born in Chestnut Hill, PA, she was the oldest of two children of Edward and Edna (Craig) Smith. She was a devoted wife of Russell A. McAlpine, Jr. for more than 52 years until his passing in 2015.

Peggy attended Upper Moreland High School and participated in field hockey, band, chorus, and science club. She then earned a bachelor’s degree from Beaver College in Education. She raised her two boys and then was a teacher until her retirement. During retirement, Russ and Peggy enjoyed traveling, gardening, bowling in leagues, and time in the Poconos. After Russ’s passing, she continued to enjoy Crafters Club, playing cards, and dining with her friends.

She is survived by her devoted cat Princess, brother Edward Smith and wife Elaine, her sons Russell and his wife Linda, Gordon and his wife Joanne and her four grandchildren, Ryan (Casey), Steven (Dana), Alexandria, and Paige and her two great-grandchildren, Ella and Marin and all her amazing friends at Ann’s Choice.

To honor her wishes, no memorial service will be held; please celebrate her life in your own way.
