Mary T. Orzechowski

Mary (Walsh) Orzechowski, widow of the late Francis H. Orzechowski of Nicetown, died at Christ’s Home on January 11, 2025, at the age of 98. She is survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Mary was born in Philadelphia on January 09, 1927 and was the second of five children. She graduated from Little Flower High School, spoke 4 languages, toured Western Europe in 1952, and held various jobs before marrying in 1967. She cared for Alfred, her husband’s brother, and was active in meetings and testified at hearings sponsored by the Mental Retardation Association from 1970 to 1983.

Mary remained in her home after her husband's death in 2004 until she sold her home and moved to Ann’s Choice in 2014. In 2020 she moved to Christ’s Home Personal Care where she continued to enjoy reading, listening to music, participating in activities, and writing. In 2022 To The Queen: Poems by Mary Orzechowski was published. The book contains a selection of Mary’s poems compiled by her niece, Margaret Lynch.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 18, 2025 at: Curran’s Irish Inn 6900 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19135 from Noon - 4:00pm

Interment will be private.
