Mary Frances Wiltison

Mary Frances Wiltison passed away peacefully at home on February 7, 2025. She was diagnosed with Esophageal cancer in 2024 and passed of complications from this disease. 

She was the daughter of Earl Linwood Edwards and Stella Caroline Davis. Mary was born 20 February 1935. She graduated from Montreat College and taught High School in Maryland for 34 years. Over the course of her career, she taught many subjects – data processing, accounting, and typing; as well as shorthand. 

Mary was married to Richard Lee Wiltison, Sr. in January 1965. They had one son whom they adopted in 1969. Mary is survived by her husband, son Richard Lee Wiltison II, his wife Krystal, three grandchildren Richard Lee Wiltison III, Kaylee Lynn Teagle, and Jacob Edmond Wiltison, a younger sister Ruth Pifer, and several nieces and nephews. 

A celebration of life for Mary was held February 18, 2025 in Lumberton, North Carolina and her ashes were committed to the sea at Daytona Beach Shores, Florida. Mary and her family spent many happy summers in the area. She has always wanted a place at the beach when she was younger. She now rests at the place she loved so much. 

The family has requested that in lieu of sending flowers that donations be made to the University of Pennsylvania Cancer Center in her name. It is hoped that with your help others may benefit from the research your donations will support.
