Michael E. Bakis, 62 years old, lost his life to cancer in the early morning of December 31st with his brother Kenneth Bakis by his side. Mike will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. He had a warm smile, an incredible sense of humor and an innate ability to make anyone laugh. His generous heart and resilient spirit were clearly an inspiration.
He was a lifelong resident of the Bridesburg section of Philadelphia; the son of the late Bernard S. Bakis Jr. and the late Margaret M. Hilscher. He is survived by the sunshine of his life, his daughter Hope Bakis, and his sisters Theresa (Philip) Devlin and Anita Bakis, his brother Kenneth Bakis, his nieces Breana Bakis, Renee and Michelle Devlin and his nephew Bryan Devlin. Followed by his great nieces, cousins, an aunt, and uncles.
It is also important to note that Mike was an integral part in the life of Anthony Siwek, who he helped to raise as if he was his own son.
During his lifetime, he was a chef at Vinnie's Lounge and the Fireside Inn, a skillful stone mason for B&AC Local #1, a devoted father, family member, and music lover who enjoyed playing the drums.
Please join the Bakis family on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Mike’s life. A prayer service for Mike will begin at 3:30 pm. Followed by family sharing at 4:00 pm, with time for refreshments and fellowship afterwards, until 6:00 pm. His family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support throughout the evening.
