Michael T. Coonan, 72, of Limerick, passed away on April 18, 2026. Born in Philadelphia, Michael embodied strength, humor, and compassion throughout his life.
Michael was the beloved husband of Denise (Seitzinger) Coonan of fifty years to whom he was deeply devoted. He was also a dedicated father to Leah Coonan (Sophia), Lindsey Prendergast (Mike), and Michael Kyle Coonan (Lauren). As a father, he gave his whole heart, always showing up with love, support, and encouragement. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Gavin, Cayden, and Emmy Prendergast, along with their father, Jimmy Prendergast --all of whom brought endless joy to his life. He is also survived by his treasured siblings Daniel Coonan (Patricia), Ellen Allen (Bill), and Mary Katulak, as well as many loving nieces and nephews who were so fond of him.
He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Angelina Prendergast and other members of the Coonan family –- his father Daniel, brother Joseph, and mother Ellen.
Michael dedicated more than 50 years to the construction industry, earning the respect of all who knew him through his tireless work ethic, leadership, and craftsmanship. Through hard work and determination, he rose to positions of project manager and superintendent, taking immense pride in every project he touched up until the day he passed.
More than anything, Michael loved his family. He adored his grandchildren, treasured teaching them new things, and loved sharing stories that kept everyone laughing. He had a larger-than-life personality, a sharp wit, and an unforgettable sense of humor. He could always be counted on for a perfectly timed Seinfeld quote. Michael had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome, comfortable, and like “family” the moment they met him.
He will be remembered for his kindness, warmth, humor, strength, and the deep love he gave so freely to those around him. His presence leaves an immeasurable void, but his legacy lives on in the family he cherished so deeply.
