Michael J. Orth Sr.

Michael J. Orth Sr., 68, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.

Born on April 26, 1958, in Philadelphia, Mike was a proud Philadelphian who dedicated more than 40 years of his life to serving the city as a voting machine technician. His strong work ethic, dedication, and commitment to his community were a true reflection of the man he was.

Above all else, Mike’s greatest pride and joy was his family. He treasured every moment spent with his four children and nine grandchildren, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and the kind of wisdom only he could share.

Mike is survived by his four children, Michael (Shannon), Kyle (Colleen), Angela (Brian), and Daniel (Christina); and his nine beloved grandchildren, Austin, Stella, Liam, Jacob, Wyatt, Olivia, Everly, Claire, and Julian. He is also survived by his brothers, John, Karl, and Chris; his sister, Marie; and many loving nieces and nephews.

To know Mike was to love him. He had a contagious laugh, a quick wit, and a gift for delivering the perfect one-liner-often accompanied by a dirty joke that would leave everyone laughing. He was selfless, loyal, and a man of unwavering integrity who would do anything for the people he loved. Whether offering words of wisdom, sharing a laugh, or simply enjoying time with family and friends, Mike had a way of making every moment memorable.

Those who knew him best will forever hear his voice repeating two of his most famous sayings:

“Don’t sweat the small shit!”

And, of course,

“If you want to drink with the boys, you gotta get up with the men!”

These words perfectly captured Mike’s humor, outlook on life, and larger-than-life personality.

Although his passing leaves an immeasurable void in the hearts of those who loved him, his legacy will live on through the countless memories, laughter, and love he shared so freely. His family and friends will carry his spirit with them always, remembering not only the things he said but the way he made them feel.

Please join the Orth family on Friday, November 20, 2026 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136, for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Michael’s life. A service for him will begin at 7:00 pm, followed by time for refreshments and food, until 9:00 pm. Michael’s family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrance, and support throughout the evening.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share stories, raise a glass, and celebrate the incredible life of a man who meant so much to so many.

Mike may be gone from our sight, but his laughter, love, and unforgettable spirit will remain with us forever.
