MILDRED FOSTER (nee Newton), of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at 97 years of age.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Samuel; her sister, Glennys; her son, Mark; her daughter-in- law, Bernadette; and her granddaughter, Star. She is survived by her sons David (Alexas), Glenn (Star), Roger (Kathleen), and Kirk, her daughter-in-law Debbie, eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Born in Duncott, PA, Mildred moved to Philadelphia in 1945 with her parents and sister. Shortly afterward, she met and married Samuel in 1947, and together they raised their five sons. Upon retirement from the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P), Mildred volunteered at her church and numerous community organizations. She traveled extensively to visit family and friends and had adventures throughout the United States, Europe, and the Middle East.
Mildred was the rock of the Foster family, and her family was her life's focus. She impacted the lives of many with her caring soul, wit, intelligence, and wise counsel.
A private service will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Mildred's memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children or a charity of your choice.
