Patricia Kay Kohler

With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of our beautiful Patricia Kay, a woman of boundless energy and a heart that loved without condition.

Patricia Kay Kohler (née Simons) was born the middle child of eleven, to Sidney and Edith Kay Simons, on October 25, 1955. In 1980 she married her best friend and throughout the next 45 years she brought positive energy, laughter, and strength into every space she entered. Patricia’s life was defined by her deep love and dedication to her people and her family. Her unwavering positivity and her ability to make everyone feel seen and valued is something we should all try to replicate.

Mrs. Kohler | Aunt Pavers | Cuz | Coach | Nanny was a one-of-a-kind force of nature and a true inspiration. Known for her vibrant energy, unwavering support, and authentic kindness, she uplifted everyone she met. Rarely found sitting still, she was the definition of a seasoned competitor—dynamic in spirit and the most passionate, energetic cheerleader any athlete or performer could hope for. A former multi-sport athlete herself, coaching became a defining part of who she was. During her 17 years with the St. Laurence Girls Softball team, she consistently brought out the very best in everyone, pushing them to believe in themselves as fiercely as she believed in them.

In her later years, even at 70, Nanny was still playing basketball, throwing a football, and always ready to take the mound. She made sure she got her turn at bat too—and as a natural lefty, she always saw the opening and sent the ball right through it. She rarely missed one of her grandchildren’s performances or competitions. You always knew Nanny was there—she was the loudest in the stands and made every event more exciting. And if sports weren’t involved, she’d still find a way to compete—never hesitating to challenge you to an intense game of backgammon or checkers. Her voice will never be forgotten, and her energy, spirit, love, kindness, patience, and athleticism will be deeply missed, always.

Patricia leaves her legacy with her best friend, husband and soul mate, Joseph; her daughter Caitlin (Harry); her son Joseph (Betsy); her seven cherished grandchildren—Adyson, Lucy Kay, Olivia, Greyson, Joey, Brayden, and Rose Kay; her siblings- Steve (Judy), Gale, Carol (Mark), Tommy (Linda), Donna (Bob), and Denise (John); and her many adored and loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first born, Brooke Elizabeth (1982-2016); her parents; her niece Alesia; her sisters, Cathy and Diane; her brothers, Wayne and Larry and her brother-in-law, Thomas.

A Memorial and Mass for Patricia will be held on Thursday, February 5th, 2026 at St. Laurence Church 8245 West Chester Pike Upper Darby, PA 19082. The Memorial Visitation will begin at 10:00am, followed by Mass beginning at 10:30am.
