Paul R. Richards, 58, of the Cedar Park neighborhood in West Philadelphia entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 28, 2022. The eldest of two boys, he was preceded in death by his mother, Marie (Vitek) Richards; father, Raymond Richards and brother, David Richards.
Paul, a dedicated teacher for over 20 years, most recently an English Language Arts Teacher at Chester High School, believed in the potential of all his students. He was devout in his faith, and was a parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. He touched many with his kindness, humor and talent. Known as a great storyteller, Paul captured listeners with stories of his home town, of his local community and of his trips to France, to name just a few. He cherished his dogs Petey and Funny, the walks they went on, and the unconditional love they gave back. Paul enjoyed walks through Cedar Park, Clark Park, and loved his his fellow musicians, artists and friends of the West Philly Open Mic Nights. He shared his passion for music in the songs that he chose to sing and play on guitar. Paul was a gentle, sincere and charitable man who will be missed by those who knew him.
A memorial service will be held for Paul, on his birthday, January 7th, 2023 at St Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 4625 Springfield Ave, Philadelphia, PA. Family & friends received at 10 am. Memorial mass begins at 11 am. Following mass, all are welcome to join for the 12:15 internment service at Holy Cross Cemetery, 626 Baily Rd. Yeadon, PA.
