Richard Edward Egan 88 of Bucks County Pa passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. Richard was born on August 28,1937 in Syracuse NY to Marie and Edward Egan.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Eva May Egan and his son, Martin John Egan.
Richard was born in Syracuse. He married his high school love at age 18. After 2 years of serving in the Army reserves, they relocated to Binghamton, where Bell of New York employed him. A career change moved Richard and his family to Philadelphia where Richard enjoyed a lucrative career with The City of Hope Cancer Research Center as a fund raiser and regional labor director. He was enthusiastic about his job with the City of Hope and loved that it enabled him to travel the country, explore new places, meet new people, and make many friends. Several years after retirement he relocated to Levittown in Bucks County.
Richard had many interests. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan waiting years to finally secure seasons tickets and spent many weekends in Washington DC at games, he loved racing cars, reading, classical music, the arts, and politics. He enjoyed traveling with his wife. He had a passion for pigs, and was a diehard Jeopardy fan, never missing an episode. Richards favorite holiday was Ground Hogs Day and loved Punxsutawney Phil! Spending time with his grandchildren, exposing them to music, films, culture, and exotic foods or just hanging out, were always highlights in his life.
Richard is survived by four of his children; Marcelle Hyatt [Douglas] , Alexander Egan [Mary], Nancy Egan, and Richard Egan. He is also survived by his brother, James Egan [Marilyn] and sister, Janice Darling [Larry]; His eight grandchildren; John Grisafi [Yunmi Oh] Brittni Grisafi, Patrick Egan, Hollyanne Piehl, Zachary Hyatt, Noelle Piehl, Meredith Trzaskawka and Natalie Trzaskawka. As well as two great grandchildren, Jack Egan and Riley Egan.
The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Richard’s Life, Saturday April 4th, 2026, at 11:00am at The First Baptist Church of Bristol, 6139 Bristol Emile Rd., Levittown Pa 19057 [in the back building].
