76, passed away December 18, 2019.
Richard served as the Spiritual Leader of the Ethical Society of Philadelphia since 1990. He was the brother of Joseph E. (Sandra) Kiniry, Jr. and Mary Eileen (John Bride) Kiniry. Richard is also survived by three nephews, Brian Kiniry, Kevin Kiniry and Edward Kiniry Ostro; a niece Maureen Ciolko and four great-nieces.
Richard was born on December 14, 1943 in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, the second of three children.
After graduating from high school, he attended Maryknoll Seminary. Following investiture in the Marian Order in 1964, he attended the University of Dayton where he earned a BA in history. He received his PhB degree in philosophy from St. Paul's College in Washington, D.C. in 1968 and then served in the Peace Corps in Malavalli, India for two years.
Returning from India, Richard first worked for Quaker City Stained Glass for two years, and then established and ran his own business. In 1987 he enrolled in the Leadership Training Program of the American Ethical Union, receiving his Leadership Certification in 1991.
Richard has served as Leader of the Ethical Humanist Society of Philadelphia since 1990. He also served as Leader of the Ethical Culture Society of Queens, New York from 1997 to 2001 and as Leader of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island, New York from 2001 to 2003. From 1987 to 1997 he was also Director of Camp Linden of the Philadelphia society.
