Richard “Dick” Wyszynski, aged 90, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2023. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy (nee Zabczynski); his children Susan (Craig Peters), Kathy, and Dave (Kathy nee McMonagle) ; grandchildren Jessica, Joseph, Paige, and David; many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his daughter Nancy Sansone (John); his parents Stella and Walter Wyszynski; his brothers Walter (Florence), Wallace (Valeria), Henry, Chester (Stella), and sisters Helen, Eleanor and Theresa.
Richard was born on May 26, 1933 and raised in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. He attended grade school at St. John Cantius Parish, and high school at Don Bosco Preparatory School, Ramsey, NJ. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955.
He and Dorothy were grade school classmates. They married in 1955 and spent 67 wonderful years loving and caring for each other and their growing family.
Richard was active in community organizations including the Polish American Congress, the Annual Pulaski Day Parade, and the Bridesburg Memorial Day Parade, the oldest Memorial Parade in Philadelphia. He was an active member of Bridesburg American Legion Post 821.
He enjoyed traveling with Dorothy, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet the family at his viewing/visitation Tues, Sept 5th from 6pm – 8pm at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Phila, PA., and again Wed, Sept 6th at St. Matthew RC Church 3300 Cottman Ave, Phila, PA 19149 from 9:15am - 10:15am, followed by his funeral mass at 10:30am. Interment will immediately follow at Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Dick's name to The Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth, c/o Development Office, 2755 Holme Ave, Phila, PA 19152 are appreciated.
