Robert "Bob" Holzshu

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert E. Holzshu, age 63, on May 28, 2025. He died peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends after a valiant fight with lung and brain cancer.

Bob’s strength, love, and spirit touched so many lives. He was a loving husband and best friend to his wife of 37 years, Bernadette (James) Holzshu.

He was a proud and loving father to his six children: Robert Holzshu and his wife Alicia; Kevin Holzshu and his partner, Kirsten; Whitney Veronica; Justin Holzshu and his wife, Erin; Kyle Holzshu and his partner, Sherry, and Jordan Mackenzie

He was a proud Pop Pop to Kevin, Aaliyah, Antonio, Rylie, Jacqueline, Quinn, Rhys, Keegan, Cillian, Genevieve, and his little angel in heaven, Makayla Marie.

He was the son of the late Edward and Marie (Dumbrow) Holzshu and brother of Donna Costello, Nadine Holzshu, and the late James and Shirley Holzshu. He was the son-in-law of Jacqueline James, a brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.

Bob was born on Dec 11, 1961, and was raised in Philadelphia. He attended Lawton Elementary School and Frankford High School. He worked at Giant Food Store for 25 years as a Produce Manager, retiring when he became ill. He was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan, like his father who was born and raised in Pittsburgh. He was also a phenomenal pool player and loved shooting pool whenever he could. Bob was a true inspiration to all who knew him and will be deeply missed by many.

A funeral Mass for Bob will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 606 West Ave, Jenkintown, PA 19046 at 10:30 am on Friday June 13, 2025. As well as a Celebration of Life later in the day at 4:00 PM at 7019 Erdrick St, Philadelphia PA, 19135.
